WELCOME TO TANKFORMS

The goal of TankForms is to provide UST owners/operators with the resources and mobile data collection forms to utilize their own in-house staff to conduct 30-Day Walkthrough Inspections.

Attention UST Owners/Operators!

Your personnel can conduct 30-Day Walkthrough Inspections!

This will reduce your expenses by utilizing in-house staff rather than subcontracting to an outside vendor, while providing many other benefits.

Why do some states use the term 30-Day Walkthrough Inspection and others Monthly Walkthrough Inspection?

Federal regulations state that walkthrough inspections have to be conducted at a frequency of no greater than 30 days, hence the term 30-Day Walkthrough Inspection.

However, many states require that a walkthrough inspection be conducted each calendar month and at a frequency of no greater than 30 days, hence the term Monthly Inspection.

Note: Federal regulations originally used the term monthly inspection; however the concern was that it could be interpreted as any day in that month. For instance, January 3rd and February 20th - which would exceed the 30 days and thus was changed to the 30-Day Walkthrough Inspection. Many state agency walkthrough inspection forms are designed for an entire calendar year, with an inspection being conducted each calendar month (at a frequency of no greater than 30 days). It is possible that February could be missed if the January inspection was conducted on one of the last days of the month.

The FPMA is pleased to announce the availability of a mobile data collection form to assist owners/operators of underground storage tanks (USTs) in Florida.

The FPMA Visual UST Walkthrough Inspection Form (Walkthrough Form) was created to comply with both the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) federal regulation governing UST systems (40 CFR part 280) and the 2015 revised federal UST regulation, Section 62-761.600 of the Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.), and the requests of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP).  The Walkthrough Form can be used in lieu of the FDEP recommended (but not required) PEI Recommended Practice 900-21 (RP900) Forms.

Like most states, UST walkthrough inspections in Florida must be conducted each calendar month and at a frequency of no greater than 30 days to comply with FDEP and USEPA UST compliance requirements. Documentation of these inspections can be through one of the following options.

PEI RP900

Appendix A-1 Monthly UST Inspection Checklist

Appendix A-4 Optional Periodic UST Inspection Checklists.

To comply with both FDEP and USEPA UST regulations, both PEI checklists are required.

Your own form that meets all of the requirements of the USEPA 40 CFR part 280 and the 2015 revised federal UST regulation, Section 62-761.600 of the F.A.C., and the requests of the FDEP.

This exciting new offering is part of the goal of expanding FPMA’s educational programs to assist their membership with understanding and meeting their compliance requirements.
